Dane Goodwin
Chief Operating Officer
Dane is the Chief Operating Officer at Whirly Labs, where he oversees the company’s operations and leads the security assessment team. His goal is an environment in which our consultants do their best work for our clients.
Dane started his career as a software developer in 2007, building automation and business-to-business software. In 2014, he joined SensePost, now part of Orange Cyberdefense, through its academy program and became a penetration tester. He went on to become Head of Assessments at Orange Cyberdefense, a role he held for three years, leading the entire assessment team.
He has taught at Black Hat USA, Black Hat MEA, and @Hack, and in private trainings for companies. His courses range from hands-on hacking fundamentals for beginners, through infrastructure hacking of external and internal networks and Active Directory, to advanced red teaming.
Dane holds a Computer Science degree. Outside of work, he is active in the South African information security community and contributes to 0xcon, 0xc0ffee Pretoria, and BSides Johannesburg.
